LOCKDOWN GUNSHOT VICTIM FIFI,
ALMOST DIED IN SURGERY

AND THE CLOCK IS STILL TICKING FOR SA.MAST.

Yesterday, we shared our news about, Fifi and Fido - gunshot victims. They were collected from a home in Khayelitsha after allegedly being shot by SAPS officers while enforcing lockdown. Two bullets from each dog have been successfully removed. But Fifi almost died during surgery. She was already ill at the time of her attack and the two rubber bullets missed her aorta by a hairs-breath - in no way was this going to be an easy surgery.

If SA.MAST staff hadn't been able to respond to the guardian's call for help, it would've taken  Fifi several hours, maybe even a couple of days, to pass away. She would have been in agony throughout this time.

As the Founder and Director of SA.MAST, I am immensely grateful to all my staff for coming to work, despite the dangers and for going beyond the call of duty to save lives and alleviate suffering.

Each of my staff members has a family of their own who naturally worry about them. I commend them for their professionalism and for going beyond the call of duty each and every day, no matter how exhausted or afraid they are. They always do what needs to be done.

Just as I would never wish for a dog to die in this this way, I would also not ever wish for a dog's guardian to have to first watch their dogs being shot and then to still have to helplessly standby while their dogs die a prolonged and agonising death.

I am also immensely grateful to each and every donor, supporter and champion of our work. You helped us to save Fifi and Fido - and so many others who have needed our emergency assistance so far.

BUT THE CLOCK IS TICKING
FOR SA.MAST.

I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO SHARE
SOME DEVASTATING NEWS.

Funding we were meant to receive in March 2020, that would have covered basic operational costs - fuel in our ambulances, doctor and nursing salaries, printing, telephone, lights - has been withdrawn because the funder themselves are now in crisis due to Covid- 19. We have 59 days to turn this situation around.

PLEASE HELP US
IN WHATEVER WAY YOU CAN:

DON'T FOR A SECOND THINK THAT YOUR HELP IS TOO SMALL
A CONTRIBUTION TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

When we think that way, others are thinking that too…and nothing gets done.

AS FOR ME, I'M DONATING THE ONLY THING
I CAN GIVE RIGHT NOW.
MY CAR.

I'M HOPING IT WILL HELP US RAISE DESPERATELY NEEDED FUNDS. I'M DOING EVERYTHING I CAN.

PLEASE JOIN ME.
