It is with profound gratitude that the SA.MAST Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha wishes to thank our 1000 Kennel Club Members, Independent Media and Anthony Richards and Associates for their support of and participation in our Mandela Day and on-going kennel building and distributing activities in Khayelitsha. As much as possible, we try to send our dog sterilisation patients home with a kennel and waterproof cushion if they are returning to an environment with no or inadequate shelter. The SA.MAST Animal Clinic is responsible for carrying out the largest, most focused and goal driven spay and neuter campaign in the world, preventing thousands of births and terrible deaths, but we are just as passionate about teaching and helping the Khayelitsha community to care for their animals in a loving and humane manner. Because of our 1000 Kennel Club members (we have 50, we still NEED 950 members please!) we were able to build these kennels at our clinic, transport them to St Georges Mall on Mandela Day and have them so beautifully painted...
The very next day, these kennels were distributed to spay and neuter patients...
What is the value of impressing upon a child, that the family dog or cat is a sentient being, needing protection, nurturing and care just as they do? We believe it is priceless.
