SA.MAST opposes the use of animals for entertainment purposes.
"We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form."
- William Ralph Inge
The Mclaren Circus uses a variety of animals, including lions, tigers and snakes.
"We shall never have animals in our shows. They are animals, not performers. They belong in the jungle."
- Pierre Parisien: Cirque du Soliel
Mclaren Circus Management insist that their lions and tigers are captive born so do "not have instinct" and have become immune to any discomfort experienced in circus life.
Hours of travelling, small caged living areas, depleted lifestyles and heavily compromised welfare, these animals have no voice. Mclaren Circus Management insists there is no cruelty and their animals are happy and content. However, they also admit that without these animals, the circus would make no money and would be forced to close.
