SAMAST July Newsletter

To date our SA.MAST facility has successfully hosted
249 mass sterilisation and primary treatment days.

Over 7000 patients have benefitted from our FREE services.

A VERY BIG
THANK YOU!

SA.MAST's Proton Arena is not repairable. BUT the good news is that a VERY BIG thank you must go out to Duxbury, PUPP, Marne and all those very special individuals who contributed funds towards the purchase of our replacement vehicle, a Nissan NP200 bakkie. Without all the help, we would not have been able to keep up with the number of sterilisations we need to do. Thank you, so, so much!

SAMAST

Our bakkies are constantly on the road collecting or returning sterilisation patients. However, SA.MAST is also committed to responding to medical emergencies and reports of neglect and abuse. The calls for help that we receive on a daily basis from distraught pet guardians or concerned neighbor are increasing on a daily basis and we are struggling to cope. We REALLY, REALLY need a third vehicle. Any and all assistance would be so very gratefully received.

ADDITIONAL SECURITY!

Due to repeated break-ins we were forced to buy a small steel shipping container to replace the wooden one which was being systematically destroyed
by thieves and drug addicts.

We now hope we have a safe place to store our precious goods and provisions. Thank you to all the many private individuals and Trellidor that heard our call for help.

Trellidor

We are however still in urgent need of CCTV cameras for our clinic in Khayelitsha to monitor all activities and hopefully prevent future break-ins.

We're also deeply grateful, on behalf of so many hungry and cold animals, for the tremendous outpouring of assistance from you, our supporters.  SA.MAST received tons of food and lots of warm, fluffy blankets for our suffering four legged friends. We were also pleased to be able to distribute hot water bottles and blankets to many of their human guardians as well.

Special thanks to WYNBERG ROTARACT and Woolworths for the huge amount of pet food, hot water bottles and blankets donated.

Smarty was brought in for mange treatment and de-worming. We look forward to the day he returns for his neutering. He also received a blanket and food - something we were able to provide thanks to your generous support and donations.

One of our SA.MAST's Community Liaison Officers, is pictured here demonstrating "how to hold a puppy". It's interactions like these that make our work so immensely rewarding.
